FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is EVOO and how does it differ from other oils?

Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) is the highest quality olive oil, obtained exclusively from the first pressing of olives, without chemical processes. It is distinguished from other oils by its fresh, fruity flavor and its high concentration of antioxidants, healthy fatty acids, and vitamins. Unlike refined oils, EVOO does not undergo refining processes, which preserves all its beneficial properties.

How to identify a quality EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil)?

A quality EVOO is characterized by a fresh, fruity, and slightly bitter or spicy flavor. Furthermore, it should have a golden-green color, and its aroma should be intense, fresh, and natural. The best way to ensure that the EVOO is of quality is to buy it from trusted brands that certify its origin and extraction process, like ours: Molino Juanito Ortiz.

Can I cook with EVOO? At what temperature is it recommended?

Yes, extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) is perfect for cooking, even at high temperatures. Although EVOO is ideal for salads and raw dishes, it can also be used for cooking over medium-high heat without losing its properties. It is recommended not to exceed 190-210°C, as at higher temperatures it may begin to decompose and lose its benefits.

How do I know if my EVOO is fresh or of good quality?

Fresh EVOO should have a fruity and slightly bitter or spicy flavor. It should also have a fresh and intense aroma. To guarantee its quality, check the harvest date and proper storage: the oil should be stored in a cool, dark place and hermetically sealed to preserve its properties. At Molino Juanito Ortiz, we ensure the freshness and quality of all our products.

Does extra virgin olive oil have an expiration date?

Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), while it doesn't have an exact expiration date, has an optimal freshness period of between 12 and 18 months from harvest. To enjoy all its properties, it is recommended to consume it within this period. Furthermore, it must be stored correctly, in a cool, dark place, away from direct light and heat.

¡Totalmente recomendado
